Direct trade coffee from northern Peru, which supports women coffee farmers. Huellas de mujer (Women's Footprints) is a project of the Valle Alto Cooperative involving 35 women coffee farmers from the Amazon region of Peru. The coffee produced by the women involved in the project is sold above market price, with quality bonuses. This money goes directly to support the main objectives of the cooperative:
- Training: training women in coffee farming, management, sales and marketing.
- Increased income from roasting: when women farmers roast and sell their own coffee locally this gives them additional income and control over 100% of the supply chain.
-Local consumption: increase it by selling quality roasted coffee in their local area.
-Own brand: HUELLAS DEL MUJER coffee has registered its brand and logo. The cooperative currently finances its own roasters and other equipment.
Process
Roasted coffee: the organic matter is extracted from the beans within a few days after the coffee bean is picked from the bush. The beans are then washed (this removes any remaining sticky glue) before being dried in the sun for 25-35 days.
